Gian Piero Gasperini discusses AS Roma ownership and squad updates
AS Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has addressed several key aspects of the club’s current state and future direction in a series of interviews. A primary focus was his desire to increase the involvement of the Friedkin family, the club's owners. Gasperini noted that while he maintains their trust, their distance from Rome differs from the daily presence he experienced with the Percassi family in Bergamo. He emphasized that closer ownership engagement would benefit both the club and the fans, especially as the team approaches its centenary and plans for a new stadium.
Regarding squad management, Gasperini defended the decision to block Manu Koné’s transfer during the final hours of the summer market, stating there was insufficient time to finalize the complex paperwork. He also provided updates on player fitness, noting that Bryan Cristante is recovering from a knee issue and remains a doubt for upcoming matches against Como and Real Madrid. Additionally, he explained that Paulo Dybala and Molina will not travel to Argentina to avoid the physical toll of long-distance flights ahead of critical fixtures.
Reflecting on his career and personal life, Gasperini discussed the intense football culture in Rome and Naples compared to the relative peace of Torino. He also shared his recent interest in winemaking, introducing a new wine named ‘Fresa 3-4-3’ which reflects his professional journey.
