Gastroenterology journal names new editors-in-chief

Drs. Timothy C. Wang and Jennifer C. Lai have been named the incoming editors-in-chief of Gastroenterology, the flagship journal of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA). Their leadership term is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2027.

In an interview regarding their appointment, the new editors emphasized a collaborative leadership model intended to bridge different specialties, including basic science, clinical investigation, luminal GI, and hepatology. They identified artificial intelligence and the impact of incretin-based therapies on digestive diseases as two primary areas of focus for the journal's future coverage.
