Gastronomy workers in Germany to receive wage increases
Wages in the German gastronomy and hospitality sectors are set to increase starting in October. According to the union Nahrung-Genuss-Gaststätten (NGG), an initial wage hike of 2.2 percent will provide full-time employees with approximately 60 euros more per month.
This pay increase is part of a multi-year agreement. Further raises are scheduled for January in the next two years, eventually bringing the total increase to over 7 percent, which equates to more than 195 euros additional monthly income.
Apprentices will also see immediate benefits, with training compensation rising by 20 euros this month. In some regions, such as the Märkischer Kreis, the increase affects over 4,000 workers, while in the Düren district, approximately 3,320 employees are impacted.
