Gaza Strip ceasefire violations Palestinian casualties Israeli military operations humanitarian crisis

Palestinian medical sources and human rights organizations report rising casualties in the Gaza Strip due to ongoing Israeli military operations. On October 20, 2026, at least seven Palestinians were killed and several others injured in strikes across various regions, including Gaza City, Jabalia, and Khan Younis.

In Gaza City, an Apache helicopter strike targeted a residential apartment near the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, killing a man and his wife. In the central Gaza Strip, strikes hit areas near the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and the Al-Bureij camp. In the south, a 15-year-old boy was killed by gunfire in Khan Younis, and additional injuries were reported in Rafah.

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights documented 18 deaths between October 14 and October 18, 2026, including three children and two women. These fatalities occurred amidst increased destruction of residential blocks and forced displacement orders.

Medical officials state the cumulative death toll in Gaza has reached 74,494, with 175,604 injuries since the start of the conflict. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Red Crescent coordinated the evacuation of 50 patients and 67 companions for treatment outside the Gaza Strip on October 19 and 20. The Prisoners' Affairs Office has warned of critical shortages of clothing, blankets, and heating supplies for detainees.
