Overview

Since the October 2025 ceasefire, Israeli military operations have repeatedly breached the truce, leading many to describe the agreement as existing ‘in name only.’ By late October 2026, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported the total death toll reached at least 74,540, with 175,678 injuries.

Throughout late 2026, instability intensified through drone strikes, artillery, and ground incursions. Recent violations include strikes in Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, Jabalia, Nuseirat, Khan Younis, and Rafah. Since the ceasefire began, health authorities report over 1,547 Palestinian deaths and 5,559 injuries directly linked to these breaches. The Gaza Board of Peace, a UN-recognized transitional administration, has faced criticism for its inability to enforce peace or facilitate reconstruction. Agricultural and social infrastructure also suffer; olive production has plummeted, and the Islamic University in Gaza recently suspended activities following a drone strike that killed three security guards and injured eight students.
