Gaza attack kills nine civilians in Israeli strikes
On July 8, 2026 Israeli air, artillery and drone strikes hit multiple locations across the Gaza Strip, killing at least nine Palestinians. The casualties included four people in the north of the territory and five in the south, among them a ten‑year‑old child, a truck driver delivering aid in the Rafah‑Mawasi area, and several civilians in Khan Younis and Gaza City. The attacks targeted a displaced‑persons tent near the Turkish slaughterhouse in southern Khan Younis, a vehicle in the western part of Gaza City, and a house in the Sheikh Ridwan neighbourhood in the north.
The violence comes despite a cease‑fire that began in October 2023, which both sides have repeatedly violated. The Gaza health ministry, whose figures are corroborated by the United Nations, says the cease‑fire period has already seen more than 1,084 Palestinian deaths and 3,491 injuries. Since the war started in October 2023, total Palestinian casualties have risen to over 73,000 killed and 173,000 injured, underscoring the severe humanitarian crisis in the enclave.
