Gaza conflict: Humanitarian crisis and social tensions reported

Perspectives on the ongoing conflict in Gaza highlight severe humanitarian and social consequences. A report by Doctors of the World describes a cycle of displacement and violence that makes recovery for Gazans nearly impossible. The organization notes that 97 percent of the Palestinian population is displaced, with many moving multiple times. The report details a collapse of the healthcare system, citing high rates of illness among children and pregnant women due to lack of clean water and hygiene, as well as ongoing attacks on medical facilities.

In a separate address, CJO board member Dave Heilbron discussed the impact of the October 7 attacks and the subsequent conflict. He criticized certain political and social groups for what he described as a climate of intimidation and exclusion toward Jewish people. Heilbron argued that while some accuse Israel of genocide, the focus should remain on the terrorist actions of groups like Hamas and Islamic Jihad, which he stated continue to cause profound trauma.
