Emergency teams of the Palestinian Ministry of Health recovered 99 bodies from a single house in the Sabra area of Rafah, southern Gaza, following repeated Israeli airstrikes. The ministry is preparing for a mass burial while noting that about 8,000 Palestinians remain buried under rubble across the Strip, hampered by a lack of heavy equipment.
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and UNICEF reported that 67% of Gaza’s population – roughly 1.4 million people – now face acute food insecurity, down from 77% a year earlier. About 212,000 people are in the emergency phase, with an estimated 74,000 children requiring treatment for acute malnutrition and 25,000 pregnant or nursing women needing nutrition support. Access to humanitarian aid remains severely restricted.
Israel’s security cabinet approved the deployment of an International Stabilisation Force to Gaza under UN Security Council resolution 2803. The initial contingent is expected to comprise around 200 personnel from allied countries, with Uganda and Morocco mentioned as possible contributors. The deployment will be coordinated with the Israeli military and contingent on its approval.
