Israel air and ground attacks kill at least 16 civilians in Gaza

Palestinian health officials reported that Israeli forces carried out a series of airstrikes, artillery bombardments, drone attacks and tank fire across the Gaza Strip, killing at least 16 civilians in a 24‑hour period. The deaths included four members of the Abu Qassem family in Deir al‑Balah, six police officers at a station in the Yabalia refugee camp, and multiple individuals in Gaza City, the Zeitoun suburb, Khan Younis and Rafah. The attacks targeted residential buildings, a prison, a mosque area and displaced‑person tents, and were described as violations of the cease‑fire that has been in place since October 2023.

Since the cease‑fire began, the Palestinian Ministry of Health says 1,127 people have been killed and 3,616 injured, bringing the overall war toll since October 7, 2023 to roughly 73,250 dead and 173,727 wounded. Israeli authorities have not commented on the specific incidents. The continued violence underscores the heavy humanitarian cost of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas‑controlled Gaza.
