Gaza death toll climbs to 72,938 amid ongoing Israeli attacks
The Palestinian Health Ministry reports that the death toll in Gaza has risen to 72,938, with 172,919 people injured since the conflict intensified in October 2023. In the latest 48‑hour period, seven more Palestinians were killed and 25 injured, bringing the total casualties since the cease‑fire began on 10 October to 929 dead and 2,811 wounded.
Despite international calls for a cease‑fire, Israeli military operations continue across the Gaza Strip and have also expanded into West Bank towns, exacerbating an already severe humanitarian crisis. Hospitals are overwhelmed, basic services such as water, food and medical care are lacking, and thousands remain trapped under rubble.
Humanitarian agencies warn that the situation could become catastrophic if the current rate of violence persists, urging the opening of safe corridors and renewed diplomatic efforts to stop the bloodshed.
