Gaza faces intensified Israeli airstrikes as casualties rise

Israeli forces continued to breach the Gaza cease‑fire agreement with a series of airstrikes, artillery fire and drone attacks across the enclave. The latest operations killed Palestinian youth Mahmoud Muhammad Fatair, who succumbed to wounds from a previous strike, and injured dozens more. Targets included residential homes in Deir al‑Balah, a family house on Al‑Baraka Street, agricultural land west of Al‑Shuhada Al‑Aqsa Hospital, a UNRWA clinic in the Maghazi camp, and areas in Gaza City, Rafah and the eastern parts of the Bureij camp. Israeli naval vessels also opened fire along the coast between Khan Younis and Rafah.

The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that since the cease‑fire took effect, 1,214 Palestinians have been killed and 3,977 wounded, with 804 bodies already retrieved. Overall, the war that began on 7 October 2023 has claimed 73,341 lives and left 174,086 injured.

These attacks underscore the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the violation of the truce, prompting further international concern.
