Gaza: Growing resentment toward Hamas reported amid humanitarian crisis

Security expert Kobi Michael of the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) reports growing resentment toward Hamas within the Gaza Strip. While many Palestinians initially supported the October 7, 2023, attacks in hopes of humiliating Israel, the subsequent consequences have caused immense suffering that may impact generations.

Michael notes that the population is currently unable to rise up against Hamas due to the group's brutal governance and willingness to kill its own people. Furthermore, he claims that Hamas is actively undermining humanitarian efforts by looting aid and selling it at inflated prices, while also imposing high taxes on goods entering from Israel and Egypt, making essential supplies unaffordable for many.
