Gaza hospitals face energy crisis as generators fail

Hospitals in the Gaza Strip are facing a critical energy crisis as several electricity generators have ceased functioning due to a lack of oil, fuel, and spare parts. The Gaza Ministry of Health warned that the situation is deteriorating, making it increasingly difficult to guarantee electricity for vital medical services.

While limited quantities of oil recently permitted by Israel to enter Gaza have arrived, officials stated these are only sufficient for the most urgent needs. Hospitals require approximately 2,500 liters of oil per month to maintain operations. The remaining generators are running continuously under difficult technical and mechanical conditions and are unable to meet the power requirements for all critical departments.

Health authorities have warned that additional generators may fail if oil supplies are not replenished immediately. Generators have become the primary power source for Gaza's hospitals following prolonged interruptions to the main electricity supply.
