Gaza: Hospitals protest detainee arrests amid Israeli strikes that kill civilians and raze homes

Israeli airstrikes on Gaza on 16 July 2026 hit the Olive neighbourhood in southern Gaza City, injuring five civilians and destroying three houses after prior warnings to evacuate. The attacks, which also targeted police stations in the Falouja and Jabalia areas, brought the death toll to 13 and injured 18 in the latest 24‑hour period, adding to a cumulative death count of over 73,000 since the conflict began in October 2023.

In response to the detention of dozens of Palestinian medical staff by Israeli authorities, the Palestinian Medical Association organized coordinated solidarity strikes in several Gaza hospitals on 15 July 2026.
