Gaza humanitarian crisis deepens amid critical resource shortages

Humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip are facing imminent collapse due to severe shortages of fuel, medical supplies, and essential infrastructure maintenance. The International Organization to Support the Rights of the Palestinian People (HASHD) warns that restrictions on aid and fuel, combined with declining international funding, threaten the lives of over two million people.

The healthcare sector is in a critical state. Hospitals are struggling with a severe diesel shortage required to run generators, which threatens to paralyze medical services and endangers patients, particularly children. Reports indicate that 28 out of 35 hospitals have been partially or fully destroyed, and remaining facilities lack essential medicines and spare parts.

Simultaneously, the water and sanitation systems are nearing a “point of no return.” The Coastal Municipalities Water Utility has warned that the inability to import equipment and spare parts prevents the pumping of water and the treatment of sewage. This poses a massive risk of disease outbreaks and flooding as winter approaches.

On the residential front, the Palestinian Civil Defense is conducting emergency evacuations of families from buildings damaged by previous shelling. The lack of adequate shelter has forced thousands to remain in cracked or unstable structures that are at high risk of total collapse.
