Gaza humanitarian crisis deepens as aid dwindles and security tightens
The Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip has intensified a food crisis, leaving thousands of families dependent on limited hot‑meal distributions. Aid teams at the Nuseyrat refugee camp report long queues of women, children and the elderly waiting for scarce meals, while humanitarian organisations say the quantity of assistance remains insufficient for the growing needs.
At the same time, Israel announced the relocation of a border search centre from the Rafah area to the Kerem Ebu Salim crossing. Palestinians returning from Egypt face extensive security checks, confiscation of personal items and strict limits on the number allowed to re‑enter, with roughly 80,000 registrations but only a fraction granted passage. The measures are presented as efforts to prevent smuggling of electronics and other contraband despite ongoing ceasefire violations and continued air and artillery strikes.
