Gaza Ministry of Health warns of imminent hospital power failure
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip has issued an urgent warning regarding the imminent collapse of electricity generators in the remaining functional hospitals. A severe shortage of engine oil is threatening to cut power to vital, life-saving departments, including intensive care units, operating rooms, and emergency wards.
Technical teams are currently attempting to maintain operations through emergency measures, such as recycling limited oil supplies and implementing temporary engineering modifications. However, the Ministry stated that these measures are no longer sufficient and that continued operation without proper lubrication will lead to catastrophic mechanical failures, potentially turning the generators into unusable scrap metal.
The crisis is compounded by a critical lack of spare parts and technical supplies. The Ministry has issued an urgent appeal to international organizations and donor agencies to intervene immediately with engine oils and necessary technical equipment to prevent a total shutdown of medical services.
