Gaza province plans $126 million solar plant for mining industry
The Gaza province in Mozambique plans to invest approximately $126 million in a photovoltaic solar plant to bolster energy supplies for the mining industry. Announced by Governor Alfeu Constantino Cuna, the project will be implemented through Golden East Engineering to support mining activities in the Chibuto region.
The infrastructure aims to strengthen energy availability for regional mining companies, including Dingxiang, facilitating the expansion of industrial activities and the local processing of mineral resources. The province intends to utilize existing electrical infrastructure, such as the Lionde and Xai-Xai substations, to support economic growth.
In addition to energy development, the Provincial Government is delimiting areas with mining potential to assist investors. Key resources identified for development include heavy sands in Chibuto and the coastal strip, as well as limestone deposits in Mabalane and Mapai.
