Gaza reconstruction plan approved by US as Israeli attacks continue
The United States has transmitted a document to Israel that outlines a reconstruction program for the Gaza Strip, allowing work on water, electricity, and other infrastructure without waiting for Hamas to lay down its weapons. Washington expects Israel to give written consent to the plan, which also covers the relocation of residents from areas still under Hamas control and the establishment of a technocratic governance hub.
At the same time, Israeli forces have continued aerial operations in Gaza. A drone strike in Deir al‑Balah killed three Palestinians, including an eight‑year‑old child, and wounded several others. The attack is part of a broader Israeli campaign that has resulted in more than 1,000 Palestinian deaths since the cease‑fire of 11 October 2025, with thousands more injured.
The juxtaposition of a U.S.-backed reconstruction framework and ongoing lethal strikes underscores the persistent volatility in the Gaza region despite diplomatic pressures for a cease‑fire.
