Gaza Strip death toll exceeds 72,000 as Israeli attacks continue

The Palestinian Health Ministry reports that the death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to more than 72,000 since the conflict escalated in October 2023, with injuries exceeding 173,000. Recent data from the last 48 hours indicate two more Palestinians killed and eleven injured, while rescue teams continue to recover bodies from collapsed structures, estimating thousands still buried under rubble.

Despite a cease‑fire that began on 10 October 2025, Israeli forces have carried out multiple strikes across Gaza, targeting residential areas, camps and hospitals. Incidents this week included a drone explosion near civilian neighborhoods, artillery fire in the north and south of the strip, and shelling of refugee camps. The ministry’s latest figures show a total of 983 deaths and over 3,100 injuries since the cease‑fire took effect, underscoring the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
