Islamic University of Gaza targeted in Israeli strikes

The Islamic University of Gaza was hit by two separate Israeli strikes on Sunday, resulting in at least three deaths and several injuries. Local sources and the university reported that the second strike, conducted via drone, targeted an area where students had gathered, killing three security staff members and wounding eight students, some of whom are in critical condition.

The Palestinian Ministry of Education condemned the attacks, describing them as a war crime and part of a broader campaign against the higher education sector. The ministry noted that 95 percent of academic institution buildings in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed during the ongoing conflict. Following the strikes, the university suspended all academic and administrative activities.

In addition to the university attacks, Israeli military operations across the Gaza Strip resulted in further casualties. Reports indicate deaths in Khan Younis, Deir al-Balah, and northern Gaza. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, since the ceasefire began on October 11, 2025, there have been 1,551 deaths and 5,573 injuries.
