Gaza Strip faces humanitarian crisis and stalled ceasefire talks
The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip remains critical as civilians face severe restrictions due to the ‘Yellow Line’. This boundary, established by the Israeli military, controls approximately 53 percent of the Gaza Strip using large concrete blocks to demarcate areas where Palestinian access is prohibited. Residents in areas such as Deir el-Balah report constant threats from nighttime gunfire, bulldozer activity, and the destruction of agricultural land and homes, leading to acute shortages of food, shelter, and clean water.
Simultaneously, ceasefire negotiations continue amid significant political tension. Hamas representative Khaled Kaddumi stated that armed resistance will persist as long as the occupation remains, rejecting demands for disarmament before an Israeli withdrawal. Kaddumi emphasized that Israel has yet to fulfill commitments from the first phase of previous agreements, which include the withdrawal of forces, the opening of crossings, and the entry of humanitarian aid. Recent discussions in Cairo involving various officials have focused on the implementation of a second phase of a ceasefire and the future political role of Hamas.
