Gaza: Israeli strikes and gunfire kill at least four Palestinians

Gaza Strip Israeli military Hamas ceasefire Palestinian casualties

Israeli airstrikes and gunfire killed at least four Palestinians in separate incidents across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, according to health officials. An airstrike targeting an apartment in Gaza City killed Akram Yassin and his wife, Dina Abu Baker. The Israeli military stated the strike targeted a Hamas fighter, though further details were not provided.

In southern Gaza, a 17-year-old boy was killed by Israeli gunfire near the Qizan Al-Najar neighbourhood in Khan Younis. Another individual was killed by gunfire in the Zeitoun suburb east of Gaza City. Reports also indicated artillery attacks in areas south of Khan Younis and increased drone and fighter jet activity across central Gaza.

These incidents occurred despite a US-brokered ceasefire that was established one year ago. While the agreement called for reconstruction and the eventual disarmament of Hamas, residents report that shelling and assassinations continue. Since the ceasefire began, health officials report at least 1,500 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire, while Israel reports that four of its soldiers have been killed by militants during the same period.
