Gaza Strip sees casualties amid military actions and election concerns

Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip have resulted in at least two Palestinian deaths and several injuries, despite a ceasefire established in October 2025. Reports indicate a man was killed by gunfire in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, while drone strikes in the Nuseirat refugee camp killed another individual. Bombings also affected areas in Khan Yunis, wounding several people, including a child.

Since the October 2025 ceasefire, Gaza health authorities report 1,415 deaths and 4,953 injuries. Since the start of the conflict in October 2023, the total death toll in Gaza has reached 74,016.

Amidst the ongoing violence, residents in Gaza are expressing concern regarding upcoming Israeli national elections scheduled for October 27. There is widespread apprehension that the election results could influence Israeli policy toward the enclave, with fears that a victory for right-wing factions could lead to intensified humanitarian hardship or forced displacement of the Palestinian population.
