Gaza's Health System Near Collapse Amid Ongoing Israeli Strikes After Ceasefire

Despite a ceasefire declared on 11 October 2025, Israeli forces continued artillery, air and naval strikes across the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Health Ministry reported that the attacks killed at least 1,098‑1,100 people and wounded 3,546, with 800 bodies already recovered from the rubble.

The ministry warned that its emergency medical services are on the brink of failure. About 70 % of the ambulance fleet is out of operation because spare parts, tires, batteries and diesel fuel have been denied entry. Of 82 ambulances, 39 are completely wrecked and another 17 need urgent maintenance. The shortage threatens the ability to transport the roughly 5,000 patients the system moves each week, risking mass civilian deaths unless humanitarian aid is allowed.

The health authorities have appealed to the United Nations and aid organisations to lift the logistical blockade, supply essential vehicle parts and diesel, and deliver additional ambulances to keep the health system functional.
