Gazi Baba Mayor accused of issuing death threats to councilwoman
The Levica political party has accused Boban Stefkovski, the Mayor of Gazi Baba, of issuing death threats against councilwoman Maja Nikodinovska during a municipal council session. According to the party, Stefkovski twice told Nikodinovska, “Watch what you say, lest Oki and Žila happen to you,” which they interpret as a threat to her life.
The party claims the threats were a reaction to questions Nikodinovska raised regarding municipal information on high concentrations of feces and E. coli in the water, rejected initiatives for local landfills, and a rejected amendment for air purifiers in schools.
Levica identified “Oki” and “Žila” as Orhan Bajrami and Jeton Krivareva, respectively, describing them as high-ranking figures of the Skopje-based criminal group “Dukandžik.” Krivareva was killed in Skopje in March 2023, and Bajrami was killed in Greece several months later. The party further alleged that Stefkovski ordered the administration to delete the video recording of the session after realizing the threat had been made publicly and recorded.
