Gaziantep court rules on double homicide linked to flower theft
A court in Gaziantep has issued a ruling regarding a double homicide stemming from a dispute over flower theft at a residence in 2022. The case, which resulted in the deaths of Cuma Arar and Mehmet Polat, was heard at the Gaziantep 1st High Criminal Court.
The court acquitted defendant Talat İ. after determining that there was no conclusive or convincing evidence beyond a reasonable doubt to support the charges. The prosecution had previously sought punishment for Talat İ. for “aiding and abetting intentional murder” and attempting to aid in the attempted murder of Hüseyin T., alleging he provided material and moral support by transporting another suspect to the scene.
Regarding the second defendant, Volkan Şahin, the court ordered that his case be separated and recorded under a different docket. An arrest warrant remains active for Şahin.
