Gaziantep hosts Green Transformation Camp for women's cooperatives
The Southeast Green Women Initiative held a Green Transformation Camp in Gaziantep to support women's cooperatives in the region's transition to sustainable and digital production. Organized through a partnership between the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality and the GAP Regional Development Administration, the event gathered 374 women entrepreneurs and 30 cooperatives from nine provinces, including Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Mardin, and Diyarbakır.
To bolster digital infrastructure, participants were provided with computer support. The initiative aims to enhance capacity in areas such as energy efficiency, waste management, water conservation, circular economy, and branding through training and mentorship. Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin attended the event to share experiences with the participants.
Separately, discussions regarding industrial green transformation highlighted the role of Organized Industrial Zones (OSBs) in Turkey. Gül Akyürek Balta, President of the TÜİOSB Food Specialized and Mixed Organized Industrial Zone, noted that green transformation is essential for global competitiveness. She reported that of Turkey's 419 OSBs, 31 currently hold green OSB status.
