Gaziantep industrial sector focuses on vocational training and global expansion
In Gaziantep, Turkey, the Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) and the Gaziantep Young Businessmen Association (GAGİAD) have signed a cooperation protocol to enhance vocational education. The agreement aims to bridge the gap between industry and education by providing technological infrastructure support, experience sharing, internship opportunities, and employment-focused collaboration for students at the Private Gaziantep OSB Vocational High School.
Cengiz Şimşek, President of the Gaziantep OSB, described vocational training as a strategic investment for the city and the country. The school currently operates 43 laboratories across eight fields, including industrial automation, machinery, textiles, and food technology, with a high employment rate among its graduates.
Separately, the Gaziantep-based company Karpen Plastik has expanded from a small carpentry workshop into a global industrial player. Founded by Halil Cankar, the company now operates three factories and 25 production lines, employing 700 people. Karpen Plastik exports PVC systems to 25 countries, with significant market presence in Africa and Europe, including Germany and Hungary.
