The Moscow oil refinery, owned by Gazprom Neft, has halted crude oil processing following a drone attack on September 20. The strike caused significant fires in the facility's two primary distillation units: the AVT-6 and the EURO+ unit.

Industry sources indicate that these units, which together account for the refinery's total processing capacity, will require several weeks of repairs before operations can resume. The AVT-6 unit alone represents approximately 53% to 54% of the facility's capacity, while the EURO+ unit covers the remaining 47%.

As a result of the damage, fuels produced at the refinery have been unavailable for sale on the St. Petersburg International Commodity Exchange since September 21. This disruption has led to reports of fuel shortages and sales restrictions at some Gazprom Neft gas stations in Moscow, with some locations implementing limits on gasoline purchases per vehicle.

In 2024, the refinery processed approximately 11.6 million tons of crude oil, equivalent to about 230,000 barrels per day. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that an industrial unit within the complex sustained damage during the attack.
