GBMar reports multiple rescues and a missing person off São Paulo coast

The Maritime Firefighters Group (GBMar) reported a series of maritime incidents along the coast of São Paulo between August 14 and 16. During this period, authorities recorded 13 drowning occurrences and rescued 16 people. The highest concentration of incidents occurred in Guarujá, which saw seven cases and 10 rescues, followed by Itanhaém and the northern coast.

In a separate search and rescue operation, authorities are searching for a 39-year-old crew member who went missing from a fishing vessel near the Alcatrazes Archipelago in São Sebastião. The disappearance was noted on August 14 after the vessel, which departed from Itajaí, Santa Catarina, on August 10, failed to locate the individual on board.

GBMar, in coordination with the Brazilian Navy and the Brazilian Air Force, conducted maritime and aerial searches in the region. While naval teams searched the Alcatrazes area on August 15, aerial operations were suspended due to bad weather. As of the latest update, the missing crew member has not been located.
