GCC Secretary-General emphasizes Gulf role in energy security and peace

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi stated that Gulf Cooperation Council countries have become reliable partners in promoting global peace, stability, and energy security. Speaking at the Gulf States Forum at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Albudaiwi highlighted the region's ability to maintain energy supply flows through alternative routes despite regional escalations and maritime disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Albudaiwi condemned ongoing Iranian aggression against neighboring countries, noting its role in causing regional chaos. He emphasized the GCC's mediation efforts aimed at fostering dialogue and achieving fair solutions that address security concerns and reduce human suffering.

Regarding economic development, the Secretary-General noted the rapid transformations driven by national visions to diversify income through sectors such as finance, logistics, industry, tourism, and technology. He also pointed to the potential for expanded GCC-US cooperation in knowledge-based economies, specifically in artificial intelligence research, medical sciences, and clean energy.
