Gdynia celebrates centenary and UNESCO status with festivals

Gdynia is hosting a series of cultural events to celebrate its centenary and its recent inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

On August 30, the northern districts of Babie Doły, Obłuże, Oksywie, and Pogórze will hold a large-scale festival at the clearing behind the Fishing Settlement in Oksywie. The event features a festival town with food trucks, craft stalls, and family attractions, concluding with a concert by the folk-rock band ENEJ. Other scheduled performances include the Szemud Commune Brass Band and the rapper Edzio.

From September 4 to 6, the city will host the ‘Gdynia in UNESCO’ weekend to highlight its modernist center, which was added to the UNESCO list in late July. The program includes guided walks through the historic center, workshops, and the launch of a new UNESCO tourist trail. Two versions of the trail—a standard two-hour route and a one-hour family route—will be available, starting from Plac Konstytucji near the Gdynia Główna station.
