Polish officials, including Vice-President Oktawia Gorzeńska and Culture Minister Marta Cienkowska, welcomed the decision, linking it to Gdynia’s centenary. Following a “Summer Birthday Night” on 22 August 2026, the city has continued its celebrations. On 30 August, northern districts including Babie Doły and Oksywie hosted a festival featuring food trucks and a concert by the band ENEJ. Additionally, from 4 to 6 September, the city scheduled a ‘Gdynia in UNESCO’ weekend, featuring guided walks and the launch of a new UNESCO tourist trail with standard and family routes starting from Plac Konstytucji.

Looking ahead, Gdynia intends to leverage the designation to boost cultural tourism and to host the 2027 World Sailing Championships.
