Gdynia extends external port tender deadline, begins overpass expansion
The board of the Maritime Port of Gdynia postponed the deadline for submitting offers to build and operate the External Port (Port Zewnętrzny) to 30 September 2026 after participants asked for more time following changes to the tender documents. The procedure, which began in 2020, has generated hundreds of questions and proposals and has been referred to the National Appeals Chamber. A new participant, Terminal Investment Limited – part of the MSC group and backed by Global Infrastructure Partners and Singapore’s sovereign fund GIC – may bring significant capital and expertise to the project.
Concurrently, the Gdynia City Roads Board opened a tender for the preparation of design documentation for the expansion of the Kwiatkowski Overpass, a vital link between the city centre, the port and the Tricity bypass. Ten firms expressed interest; the selected contractor will develop detailed studies, including BIM models, over a 16‑month period, assessing technical, economic, environmental and traffic impacts. The aim is to increase load capacity, improve safety and accommodate growing traffic to the container terminals BCT and GCT.
