GE Vernova expands power solutions for AI and offshore wind

GE Vernova has announced the launch of a new medium-voltage uninterruptible power supply (MV-UPS) designed to provide stable power protection for AI data centers, AI factories, and other energy-intensive facilities. Unlike conventional low-voltage systems that protect individual sections of a facility, the MV-UPS allows for a single coordinated setup to cover larger portions of a site. This approach aims to mitigate the electrical strain caused by sudden shifts in AI workloads that can impact the grid or on-site generation. Shipments are expected to begin in mid-2027.

In a separate logistics operation, COLI Group has completed the transport of 14 large power transformers for GE Vernova. The project involved moving the units from a Turkish factory to a site in Poland to support the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm. The shipment included ten units weighing between 110 and 170 tonnes, and four units weighing 361 tonnes each. The project required complex logistical solutions, including the use of temporary flyover structures to bypass bridges unable to support the weight, and was conducted during harsh winter conditions.

The Baltica 2 project, a 1.5 GW offshore wind farm being developed by PGE Group and Ørsted, is scheduled for commissioning in 2027 and is expected to be Poland’s largest renewable energy investment.
