Geely unveils 2.2 MW ultra-fast AI charging technology

Geely has unveiled its Next-Generation AI Smart Charging technology, aiming to significantly reduce electric vehicle charging times to approximately four minutes. The system features a fifth-generation charging station capable of a peak power output of up to 2.2 MW, which is roughly 50% higher than BYD’s Flash Charging 2.0 system.

To manage the extreme heat generated by such high power, Geely utilizes the Xingrui PowerMind AI model. This system predicts temperature changes up to 30 seconds in advance, aiming to maintain an average battery temperature below 55 degrees Celsius and ensuring peaks do not exceed 65 degrees Celsius. This thermal management is designed to preserve battery longevity, targeting a lifespan of 3,500 charge-discharge cycles.

In real-world testing conducted on Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 models, the technology achieved a charge from 10% to 70% in 4 minutes and 30 seconds, and from 10% to 97% in 8 minutes and 40 seconds. The updated Geely Galaxy E5 is expected to be the first production model to implement this ultra-fast charging architecture.
