Geely details updated EX5 electric SUV with 800V charging
Geely has detailed updates for its EX5 electric SUV, which include new rear-wheel drive variants equipped with an 800V electrical system. These updated models, known as the Geely Galaxy E5 in China, feature lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries with capacities of 61.52kWh or 70.01kWh, supporting DC fast-charging at up to 460kW. The rear-wheel drive configuration delivers 245kW and 320Nm of torque, achieving 0-100km/h in between 5.8 and 6.2 seconds.
Design changes for the updated EX5 include a sharper front bumper, larger vertical side air intakes, and more traditional door handles to comply with Chinese market regulations. A LiDAR unit is positioned above the windscreen. While the updated model's arrival in Australia remains unconfirmed, Geely is currently offering sales incentives on its existing EX5 and EX2 models, including a 0.09% comparison rate finance option over 36 months.
The EX5 has established a significant presence in certain markets, with over 15,000 units sold since its launch. The smaller EX2 electric hatch, which has seen high sales volumes in China, is also part of Geely's current promotional efforts.
