BYD reaches 10,000 Flash Charging stations milestone in China

BYD has reached a major milestone in its electric vehicle infrastructure rollout, announcing the installation of 10,000 Flash Charging stations across China. This achievement, reached in under six months, represents half of the company’s target to deploy 20,000 stations by the end of 2026. These stations are capable of delivering up to 1,500 kW of power through a single connector, enabling vehicles to charge from 10% to 70% in approximately five minutes and up to 97% in nine minutes.

To support this high-power infrastructure, BYD is introducing new vehicle models and battery technologies. The Denza Z9 GT will be the first model in Brazil to support Flash Charging, while the third-generation BYD Tang, set for release in late 2026, will feature second-generation Blade batteries compatible with ultra-fast charging. Testing of the Yangwang U7 demonstrated high durability, with the battery retaining 98.7% capacity after 350 ultra-fast charging cycles and 30,000 km of high-speed driving.

In parallel, Geely is advancing its own competitive technology by developing a 1,000-volt electrical architecture designed to further reduce charging times. Additionally, the Renault-Geely joint venture, Horse Powertrain, is working on a methanol-powered range extender to complement electric drivetrains.
