Geely develops ultra-fast charging technology to rival BYD

Geely is developing ultra-fast charging technology to compete with BYD’s Flash Charging. The company is working on charging stations in China with a nominal efficiency of 1,800 kW. Additionally, Geely’s Zeekr brand utilizes 900-volt systems for high-speed road charging.

Geely is also advancing solid-state battery technology, which is expected to be available in China within months. Reports suggest these batteries could feature an energy density of 500 Wh/kg and a range exceeding 1,000 km. The company is further exploring a 1,000-volt electrical architecture to enhance charging performance. Currently, the Lynk & Co 10 can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately five minutes and 32 seconds.

Michael Yang, Geely’s UK CEO, identified the United Kingdom as a priority market for the deployment of this technology, though he noted a pragmatic approach to its international rollout.
