Geely EX2 named Brazil’s best‑value electric car for 2026
The Geely EX2 electric hatch was awarded first place in the 2026 Autoesporte Qual Comprar prize, beating BYD’s Yuan Pro and other contenders. Judges evaluated 27 electric models on purchase price, maintenance costs, parts basket, depreciation, equipment level and suitability for the Brazilian market. The EX2 scored especially low on ownership cost, with revision expenses around R$ 3,264, parts costs near R$ 11,266 and a depreciation rate of just 0.1 %.
The model offers a 116‑horse‑power motor, rear‑wheel drive, a 289‑km range and a suite of features such as six airbags, four‑wheel disc brakes, a 14.6‑inch infotainment screen and, in higher trims, ADAS assistance. Its competitive total‑cost profile has helped it become one of Brazil’s best‑selling electric cars of the year, reinforcing the growing presence of Chinese manufacturers in the country’s automotive sector.
Industry analysts note that the EX2’s success reflects Brazilian consumers’ increasing focus on total cost of ownership, alongside traditional factors like performance and range, and signals a shift toward more affordable, locally adapted electric vehicles.
