Geely EX5 receives rear‑drive power boost in mid‑life update
Geely is preparing a mid‑life update for its EX5 electric SUV. The most notable change is the shift from front‑wheel drive to rear‑wheel drive, coupled with a power increase to roughly 330 hp (about 328 bhp in Chinese filings) and a higher top speed of around 200 km/h (124 mph). Minor exterior revisions include a slightly redesigned front bumper, new tailgate script, external door handles, and fresh 18‑ or 19‑inch alloy wheels.
The vehicle will retain its lithium‑iron‑phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry, though capacity and range details remain undisclosed. Additional features shown in prototype images are a roof‑mounted LiDAR sensor and a rear‑located charging port, suggesting preparation for Level 3 autonomous driving limited to the Chinese market. Availability in other regions such as the UK has not been confirmed.
