Geely expands European EV push with Smart #2 launch and EnBW charging deal

Smart, the Mercedes‑Geely joint‑venture, is preparing to debut its all‑electric two‑seater Smart #2 in Paris in October, with deliveries planned for the second quarter of 2027. The compact city car is positioned to revive the brand’s classic spirit, feature a double‑seat layout, fast‑charging capability and a target price just above €20,000. Production is currently based in China, but the company says a European plant could follow if sales volumes justify it.

At the same time, Geely is entering the German market with an EnBW charging package that includes a free charging card, €144 of credit covering twelve months of the basic tariff and access to more than 900,000 charging points across 17 European countries. The package, priced at 39 cents per kWh, is intended to offset the impact of recent EU anti‑subsidy duties on Chinese imports and to make the charging experience a key selling point, contrasting with competitors that are building their own networks.
