Geely expands EV lineup with launches in Australia and Nigeria

Chinese automaker Geely confirmed that its best‑selling low‑cost electric hatchback, the EX2, has received approval for sale in Australia. The model, expected to be priced around AU$30,000, will be offered in three rear‑wheel‑drive variants and is slated for a local launch in the second half of 2026. Geely highlighted the EX2’s dimensions, battery options and colour range, noting its success in China where it became the top‑selling car in 2025 with over 465,000 units.

In Lagos, Geely’s premium new‑energy brand Geely Galaxy unveiled three EV models – the EX5 EM‑i, EX5 and EX2 – and announced a partnership with TIM Motors as the exclusive distributor for the Nigerian market. The EX2 is positioned as an affordable sub‑compact hatchback for city commuters, while the EX5 EM‑i combines petrol and electric power for a range of more than 1,000 km. The launch underscores Geely’s strategy to grow its presence in emerging markets and to offer lower‑cost, efficient electric vehicles across Africa.
