Geely expands global reach through new models and Ford partnership
Geely is expanding its international presence with the upcoming launch of the Monjaro EM-i. Built on the new GEA Evo architecture, this model represents a shift toward enhanced electrification compared to previous platforms. The vehicle is expected to debut in Egypt in late August, with subsequent planned entries into European markets, including the United Kingdom.
In a separate development regarding the Geely-Ford partnership, Ford is preparing to develop a new small crossover SUV utilizing Geely’s Global Intelligent Electric Architecture (GEA). This multi-energy platform will support both hybrid and fully electric powertrains. The new Ford model is expected to feature a design inspired by rally racing to maintain a distinct brand identity despite sharing technical components with Geely products like the EX5.
Production for these vehicles is slated to take place at Ford’s Valencia plant in Spain. Under the agreement signed in July, Geely will manufacture vehicles at this facility, which has historically operated at less than 25% capacity. The first model expected at the Valencia site is the Geely EX2 electric SUV.
