Geely introduces AI-powered fast charging technology
Geely Auto Group has introduced Geely Smart Charging, a next-generation charging technology powered by artificial intelligence. Developed in collaboration with StepFun, the system utilizes the Xingrui PowerMind AI model to coordinate energy management between vehicles, batteries, charging stations, and the cloud.
The technology aims to optimize charging speeds while protecting battery longevity. By using algorithms to predict battery temperature up to 30 seconds in advance, the system can dynamically adjust power to maintain average temperatures below 55 °C and peak temperatures under 65 °C. This proactive thermal management is supported by a five-point liquid cooling system.
Accompanying this software is the fifth-generation Geely Smart Charging station, capable of delivering peak power up to 2,250 kW, and the new Ultra Short Blade Battery. In testing, a Lynk & Co 01 vehicle reached a 97% charge from 10% in just 8 minutes and 40 seconds using 1,100 kW charging. Geely CEO Jerry Gan emphasized that the technology is designed to ensure high-speed charging does not come at the expense of long-term battery health.
