Geely launches integrated 16-in-1 electric drive with record 93.8% efficiency

Chinese automaker Geely unveiled its 16‑in‑1 Intelligent E‑Drive, branded as the Thunder system, which integrates motor, controller, reducer and four software management functions into a single 75 kg, 800 V package. The design eliminates more than 180 separate components, cuts high‑voltage wiring by 30 % and low‑voltage wiring by 15 %, and shrinks the unit to just 325 mm in height, freeing up roughly one cubic foot of trunk space.

Geely says the drive achieves an overall efficiency of 93.8 % under the CLTC test cycle, the highest reported for a production electric sedan. In a demonstration around Qinghai Lake the Geely TT, equipped with the new system, recorded energy consumption of 8.2 kWh per 100 km, earning a Guinness World Record for lowest energy use on that route. The Thunder unit will debut in the upcoming Geely TT electric sedan, marking a significant step toward more compact and efficient EV powertrains.
