Geely unveils AI-powered ultra-fast EV charging technology

Geely Auto Group has unveiled “Geely Smart Charging,” a next-generation electric vehicle charging technology that utilizes artificial intelligence to achieve ultra-rapid speeds. In testing with Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 models, the system charged batteries from 10% to 70% in just 4 minutes and 30 seconds, and from 10% to 97% in 8 minutes and 40 seconds.

The system features a fifth-generation charging station capable of a peak output of 2,250 kW. Central to the technology is the “Xingrui PowerMind” AI model, developed in partnership with StepFun. This AI manages energy by predicting battery temperature changes up to 30 seconds in advance, allowing for dynamic power adjustments to maintain an average temperature below 55°C and peaks below 65°C.

To protect battery longevity, Geely implemented a five-point liquid cooling system and a “Lithium-ion Pulse Restoration” technology. This method uses micro-pulses of current to reactivate lithium ions, which Geely claims can extend battery cycle life by up to 20%. The rollout includes new battery hardware, such as the Ultra Short Blade Battery, designed to reduce heat during the charging process.
