Greek Motorways See Traffic Rise in Early 2026, Boosting Toll Revenues

The GEK TERNA consortium reported higher vehicle flows on Greece’s main motorways in the first half of 2026. Average daily traffic (ADT) on the Athens‑Egnatia route rose 2.9% to about 219,000 vehicles, while the Athens‑Attiki Motorway grew 2.4% to roughly 291,000. The Central Greece (E65) corridor recorded a 3.5% increase, and the New Motorway saw a 2.1% decline. Overall ADT across the four operated highways reached 671,800, up 1.8% year‑on‑year. The fully opened E65 now charges a €4.50 toll per lane, adding to revenue expectations. Minister of Infrastructure Christos Dimas noted that the traffic growth will offset fiscal impacts from recent farmer protests and supports the consortium’s earnings outlook for the year.

These trends underline the strategic importance of Greece’s motorway network for domestic mobility and the financial health of the concession‑holder.
