GEK Terna secures €144.6 million energy project in Romania

GEK Terna has secured a major energy infrastructure project in Romania with an initial budget of approximately €144.6 million. The contract, signed by the group's subsidiary TERNA, was awarded by PPC Renewables Romania.

The project, designated as “EPC NADAB HV,” involves the design, civil engineering, supply, installation, and commissioning of high-voltage infrastructure in Arad County, specifically in the Chișineu-Criș / Nădab area. This includes two 400/110 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) main transformer stations, two 400 kV underground lines, and an extension of an existing 400 kV substation. The work aims to connect a large photovoltaic park to the Romanian national transmission grid, operated by Transelectrica.

This energy project follows significant recent activity by GEK Terna in the Romanian railway sector. The group is part of the TrackWorks consortium, which recently signed a €380 million contract for the Filiași – Igiroasa railway section. This is part of a broader effort to upgrade the Craiova – Igiroasa axis, which includes previous contracts for the Craiova – Filiași section.
